Red Wing Moc Toe Boot 8849 - Black Prairie

The 8849 is the Black Prairie variant of Red Wing's iconic Moc Toe, wearing the same silhouette and No. 23 last as the original 875. Black Prairie is a smooth full-grain leather that carries no wax or oil in the finish — it deepens and darkens through wear alone, absorbing marks and light scratches into a surface that becomes more individual with every season of use.

Because Black Prairie behaves as a pull-up leather, the character of the boot is largely determined by how it is worn. Creases at the vamp develop early and settle as the leather moulds to the foot. Conditioning should be light and infrequent — over-conditioning suppresses the natural pull-up effect and flattens the leather's tonal depth.

The Nitrile Cork wedge sole provides cushioning and oil resistance across long days on hard floors. Goodyear welt construction means the boot is fully resoleable — built to be maintained, not replaced.
