US Army M-37 Webbing Belt - Khaki

The M-1937 webbing belt entered US Army service in the late 1930s and remained standard issue throughout the Second World War and well into the postwar period. Its design was deliberately simple: cotton webbing in olive drab or khaki, a steel open-face buckle, and a loop keeper. The simplicity was the point. A field belt had to hold, to be adjustable, and to tolerate mud, water, and continuous use without failure.

Buzz Rickson's, the replica division of Toyo Enterprise in Tokyo, has produced their version of the M-37 belt to the original specification. The cotton canvas webbing is woven to the correct width and weave structure. The buckle hardware is finished in period-correct blued steel. The keeper loop sits at the correct position on the strap. Every dimension is taken from surviving originals — belts that saw service across multiple theatres and came to light through military surplus channels and private collections.

This is the belt that defined utility dressing for a generation of soldiers. It appeared on every GI photograph from North Africa to Normandy, from the Pacific island-hopping campaign to the streets of liberated European cities. Unembellished, uncomplicated, and correct in the way that only military specification design can be. The design that set the template for the webbing belt in all its subsequent forms.

In khaki, this is the standard colourway — the shade of undyed or lightly dyed cotton webbing worn across all branches wherever the darker olive drab was not specified.
